Pietro Domenico Paradisi (Napoli 1707 - Venezia 1791).
Probably a student of Nicola Porpora, began his activities as a composer of works for the theater. In 1746 he moved to London, where he was known as a teacher of harpsichord and composition. In 1770 Havens sold his collection of manuscripts to Richard Fitzwilliam and retired to Italy, spending the rest of his life in Venice.
His fame is due mainly to the excellent harpsichord production in which shows a compositional style akin to that of Domenico Scarlatti. Famous are above all the twelve sonatas for harpsichord (London 1754).
Particularly well known is the allegro from Sonata VI in A major, also known as Toccata in A major, of which there is a considerable discography, especially in a version for harp.
