Description: | No one will know this nice tuneful carol. It's another Australian carol this time played on a Polish organ. This was one of four songs I found stuck on sheets of cardboard. I think they came from a Girl Guide Songbook. The words and music are by Mrs E. B. Holmes Editor of the Tasmanian magazine, 'Platypus' and State Adviser for Singing.
The tune makes a nice carol and these days would go better with new words.
Our little Lord lay in a manger,
While beasts stood around him in the hay,
On that far off Christmas Day,
And so we all sing 'Noel, Noel'.
This tiny babe of who we sing
Is Lord of all, and Heaven's King.
The Christmas bells with joy will ring,
And we will sing 'Noel, Noel'.
In Palestine, so long ago,
Twas winter time, with ice and snow,
When Jesus came to earth below,
To whom we sing 'Noel, Noel'.
The summer sun shines warm and bright,
The paddocks glow with tawny light,
But we recall the frosty night,
And gladly sing 'Noel, Noel'. |
