William Stickles (1882–1971) — Melodie (1949) for organ
William Stickles (1882–1971) was born in Cohoes, New York and educated at the Utica Conservatory and Syracuse University. He pursued advanced study in Italy while acting as assistant to voice teacher Isadore Braggiotti in Florence. After several years as repititeur of the City Theater in Munich, Germany he returned to the USA where he taught and published a large number of original compositions and arrangements as one of the most prolific writers of the period. In addition to numerous sacred and secular original works he also produced hundreds of keyboard, vocal, and choral arrangements of popular theater music of the day. Much of his organ music was written for the Ethel Smith Music Corp.
