I did not hesitate very long to upgrade to Hauptwerk 5. The upcoming sample set of the organ in the Martini kerk in Groningen is the only excuse I needed... :-)
And now I'm playing with the new feature of adding IR to the sound.
To test this new feature, I used the dry sample set I have, that of the Onderhorst Kabinetorgel in Bennekom, created by Legro (
http://home.kpn.nl/legro/).
In the recording you first hear the sample set natively, so the organ sounds as it sounds in the real church. Then I play it again, adding one of the Impulse Responses that come with Hauptwerk 5. I left all settings at their default position.
The result is staggering and fascinating. Even if it is crude. But I can already hear that finetuning the settings and using a good quality Impuls Respons of a suitable room (it would not make sense to virtually place this small organ in a large cathedral) the results can be very beautiful.
