Composer: Grosjean, Ernest
Sample Producer: Augustine's Virtual Organs
Sample Set: Aeolian-Skinner Organ (Op 1132) of Redeemer Church
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Romantic
Description:
Ernest Grosjean (1844 - 1936) published "Pièces pour orgue ou harmonium", a set of 56 pieces in two volumes, in 1902. The first volume contains 33 easy pieces, that can be played without the use of pedals. The second half of this volume is a section called "Pièces Funèbres", pieces intended to be used during funeral services. The source does not indicate a title for this composition, hence my designation of "Without Title" in French.

It is a beautiful piece, full of melancholy and sorrow. Not the most suitable piece to play on the eve of Christmas. The end of the year however is near as well, with the usual remembrance of the things that happened during that year, things that are past and gone. And for such an occasion this composition is very suitable.
