“The Threshold of Beginning: A Prayer for the New Year”

This little piece is simply a prayer, flowing from my heart, that 2020 will be better than the year that has just passed. 2019 was not the best of years in my life, in fact it was downright difficult.

I made this recording (in the waning hours of 2019) on the organ in the Chapel of Saints Mary and Martha at Bethany House – the mission parish I serve as vicar. The audio version of the recording is, of course, recorded through the computer containing the Saint-Eucaire virtual pipe organ. The video recording, with inferior audio quality, offers the possibility of hearing (near the end of the recording) the trumpet, strings, and timpani that I sometimes add from the Yamaha EL-90 console that controls the virtual instrument.
