Description: | Hymns to Help Us Through - #26 - “Sweet Hymns in the Trees”...
Hello, my friends!!
I decided to do something a little different today. Instead of recording a familiar hymn that we love or a new hymn that is worth learning, I attempted to record the hymns I've been hearing from the birds in the trees! In order to do this, I created four new registrations (combinations of stops) on the virtual pipe organ at Bethany House. Each of them makes use of the various Flute stops, especially Cavaillé-Coll's signature Flute Harmonique!
“Sweet Hymns in the Trees” is really a tone poem in three movements: Morning, Noontime, and Evening. Instead of singing along, close your eyes and imagine the blue of the morning and the beginning of the hymns from the trees. Then, in the second movement, imagine the busy-ness of the "choristers" as they gather food and fly about at the height of the day. And finally, in the third movement, imagine the sun setting as the hymns come to their daily end in twilight.
(By the way, you'll definitely want to use headphones - the sound of this pipe organ is amazing!!) :)
Blessings, my friends! :)
