American composer James F. Rickley (b. 1948) was educated at the University of Cincinnati, Temple University, and the University of Nevada-Reno. Rickley worked professionally in the field of music education from 1972 until his retirement in 2014. He served numerous schools and districts as a teacher and then later in administrative positions as principal and superintendent. Concurrently, he held various positions as a church musician. Rickley also founded the educational consulting firm WayWordBound, specializing in evaluation and assessment activities. As a composer, Rickley has written more than 200 works in a variety of forms, ranging from theater music to solo instrumental pieces.
