Adagio for Strings

It has been my dream for decades to play this piece in the William Strickland's fantastic arrangement at the organ. With the Hauptwerk virtualization of the huge, symphonic organ of the Townhall Melbourne in Australia by Inspired Acoustics, it has become possible for me to realize this dream for the first time. Especially if you want to perform this piece at the organ, in my opinion the string atmosphere of the original remains absolutely essential. However, most organs do not offer the extensive tonal possibilities as the monumental organ in Melbourne with its 175 stops does. This instrument has a huge selection of string voices with different timbres, pitches and volumes which allows to present the string atmosphere of the ‚Adagio’ very impressively.

With this recording I am delighted to see my decade-long dream come true and present finally the Samuel Barber's wonderful *Adagio for Strings* at the organ as I feel it in my heart.
