Heinrich Nikolaus Gerber (1702-1775) was a German organist. In 1724, he went to Leipzig to study law, where he also became a student of Johann Sebastian Bach, who taught him to play the keyboard and basso continuo. During this time, he made copies of numerous works by Bach. In 1731 he was appointed court organist in Sondershausen, where from then on he also worked as harpsichordist for the court chapel and as a piano and composition teacher. During this time he met Johann Adolf Scheibe and Johann Philipp Kirnberger.
