Two little compositions by the Swiss composer Gaël Liardon (1973-2018) are combined here. The chorale melody was written by Joachim Neander (1650-1680), who lived in Düsseldorf for a time. His favorite path led through what was then a lovely valley, which is why it still bears his name today (Neandertal). The remains of the bones of a prehistoric human being were found there, who was named after this valley ("Neandertaler").
