Composer: Shingler, David T.
Sample Producer: Milan Digital Audio
Sample Set: Salisbury Cathedral Father Willis
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Contemporary
Description:
This lovely prelude was written by English organist, David T. Shingler.

It was was written especially for Edward Bishop, a budding teenage organist in Wigton, who is a piano pupil of the composer, and an organ pupil of the composer's uncle.mine.

The first performance of the work was given by the dedicatee on December 18, 2024 at St. Mary's Church, Wigton.

David T. Shingler is Organ Scholar of Carlisle Cathedral, and Assistant Organist at St Mary's Parish Church in Wigton.

The work is based upon Gustav Holst's (1874-1934) immortal tune, "Cranham," which is always linked with Christina Rossetti's (1830-1894) 1872 poem.

The piece is warm and attractive, and will be useful and enjoyed by organists and congregations alike.

If you wish to do so, you may contact the composer at

The score is attached below, as well as photos of Christina Rossetti and of Gustav Holst.

I wish all my listeners a year of peace, happiness and blessings!
