A nice romantic Fantasia by Philipp Tietz (1816–1878). He was a 19th-century German composer, organist, and conductor, born and died in Hildesheim(!), active in Hannover and Lenzburg.
Primarily known for his Romantic-era organ compositions and choral works, his music is characterized by charming, often melodic pieces suitable for church use, including works like Fest-Cantate, Op.48 and Fantasia in D (Op. 62).
His Fantasia Opus 40 sounds fine on this instrument (that he never saw or heard, because it's build in 1912), but maybe it was performed in the same church on the previous instrument (the Stahlhuth organ from 1863) ...
The Fantasia contains these parts:
- a heavy introduction 'Andante maestoso' (
00:00)
- a charming 'Allegretto' (
02:39), played on the Flutes 8' and 4' of Man.II
- a rather massive 'Allegro con fuoco' (
04:40) with powerful conclusion (full organ).
Enjoy!
