Composer: Boely, Alexandre
Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: Laurenskerk - Main Organ - 1973 Marcussen & Son
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Romantic
Description:
Boely (1785-1858) was a Parisian organist at the romantic period ; he was fired by his parish's priest because he played too much Bach while the parishioners wanted to hear barcarolles, romances and storms alla Lefebure-Wely.
The fantaisie et fugue op.18 can be seen as the first "French toccata". The ebullient fantaisie is followed by a fugue first calm and singing ; the fugue becomes more and more animated until the return of the fantasy which ends in a quasi-Lefebure mood !
