Michael Gotthard Fischer (1773-1829) was a German organist and composer.
Michael Gotthard Fischer was a student of Johann Christian Kittel, therefore grandson pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach. Fischer joined Kittel successor as organist at Erfurt Predigerkirche and also worked at the Barfüßerkirche as organist. In 1816 taught at the teacher training college Fischer Erfurt basso continuo and organ. August Gottfried Ritter, Ernst Ludwig Gebhardi and Eduard Grell were among his pupils. Due to its suffering gout, he was forced in 1820 to resign his post of organist.
Fischer created numerous vocal and instrumental compositions for solo instruments, small and large ensembles, notoriety gained substantially its Orgelkompositionen
