This is Marcel Dupre's last work, composed in August 1969 for a friend's funeral which he couldn't attend. It remained unpublished until 1995 (Dupre's wishes were for it to remain unpublished and only available to the bereaved family.)
The piece is written for manuals only and calls for Fonds. The Great, Swell and Positive of the Klais are coupled together for the start but the dominant sound is the beautiful Principal of the Great. Later it moves to the Fonds of the Swell and coupled Positive. It ends with the Swell box being closed leaving the wonderful Fonds of the Positive only.
