Gaël Liardon was born 1973 and studied music in Lausanne and Geneva. He has been active as an organist in Lausanne since 1995. For an impressive overview on his many activities see http://www.domisolmifa.net/ (unfortunately only in French).
Since 1993 he has published numerous chorale preludes in traditional styles of the 17th and 18th centuries. He shows that this language is not old-fashioned at all, but still can tell us something new, independent, and “of one’s own”. Much of his music is available on imslp.org.
I have recorded all versions available on imslp: a fughette, a longer chorale prelude with decorated melody, and a version with the melody in the pedals.
