Description: | The chorale prelude to “Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott”, BWV Anh. II 49 is another one of the works of which the authorship of Bach is uncertain. It is a cleverly constructed piece. Out of the first eight notes of the choral melody a motic is derived that is used as accompaniment to the choral melody itself in long notes. There is hardly a bar in the piece in which the motic isn’t heard. If gives a solidness and firmness to the piece that is a perfect expression of the meaning of the text.
