Description: | I have a very personal relationship with this piece and 'O, Tod' (O, Death) from Brahms's 'Vier Ernste Lieder' (4 Serious Songs). Both express how ardently one can yearn for that final hour.
I was inspired by Virgil Fox's recording at the Wanamaker Store. My dear friend Angus_David's upload of last week was inspired on earlier recordings. Hence the huge difference, I guess. For comparison: http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/31170
I recorded this on my revoiced FCCLA Skinner organ with later additions, incl. the 1969 / 95 stop Schlicker.
It took me ages to finish the registration of the ending (without using a GenCresc). Don't know if it was worth waiting, but at least I'm happy with it now. |
