Siegmund Schmidt (b. 1939) — Praeludium in g (1993) for organ
German composer and church musician Siegmund Schmidt (b. 1939) was born in Stuttgart and educated in Stuttgart, Tübingen, and Heidelberg. His teachers included Helmuth Rilling and Siegfried Hermelink. He held church and teaching positions on Schöntal and Öhringen and from 1974 to 199 was director of the Stiftskantorie Öhringen, which he directed in small and large works from the choral literature. As a composer, Schmidt has written numerous sacred and secular works in many genres.
