| Description: | This Sketch is played in the version edited by André Isoir.
There are two versions :
at 0:00 with my prefered, but perhaps a bit restrained, registration for the outer parts.
at 5:40 with the more usual kind of registration.
From what we know, Schumann was enthusiastic about the organ but wasn't a skilled organist. He played only baroque organs (Freiberg Petrikirche in 1841, Leipzig St Nicolas in its Hildebrand state the same year).
Nevertheless, this music (composed for piano with a pedalboard) is so romantic that the warm Walcker sound seems much more welcome to perform it. |
