This children's hymn was written in 2007. Waiting for a boisterous children's choir to settle, I began improvising in the style of 1950's rock and roll. Suddenly the children were quiet, apparently enjoying the organ. Our choir director urged me to notate what had just been played. In a day or two, the Lord gave me words. The children sang this hymn for some years. As they sang "The joy of the Lord is your strength", the fierce looks on the boys' faces and their outstretched fists were memorable. Had Satan been in their way, he would have taken a drubbing.
Clearly this is not a musically profound piece, but at this time some childlike joy might help. Jesus said "Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein."
The words of this hymn are:
I'm rejoicing in Jesus' name
I'm rejoicing in Jesus' name
Jo-------------------------y
Stren--------------------gth
I'm rejoicing in Jesus' name
He-----is-----my-----joy
He-----is-----my----strength
I'm rejoicing in Jesus' name
The joy of the Lord is your strength
joy of the Lord is your strength
joy of the Lord is your strength
joy of the Lord is your strength
I'm rejoicing in Jesus' name
Years ago we used a Hammond organ, so this is new for me on pipe organ.
