Bjørn Sverre Kristensen (b. 1954) — Meditation on Luke 13:18–19 (2019) for organ

“He said therefore, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.’”

Norwegian composer Bjørn Sverre Kristensen (b. 1954) was born in Moss and grew up in Oslo. He studied at Oslo University and at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. After years a freelance musician, composer, critic, and broadcaster, in 1994 he became professor of music at Hedmark University College in Hamar. As a performer, Kristensen specializes in traditional instruments from Norwegian folk and ceremonial music, including the military drum (trommeslåtter) as well as the Hardanger fiddle. As a composer, he has written works for soloists, ensembles, and choirs.
