Description:
As many of you know, I love the music of German organist and composer Hans-André Stamm, and have recorded several of his works already. Today I return to share another one of his lively compositions. This piece, bearing the title "Danse Niçoise", comes from his 6th volume of Orgelwerke, and is a lively dance in the odd time signature of 7/8 (usually subdividing naturally into groups of 3+4 or 3+2+2). A brief interlude in the more conventional 3/4 meter soon yields to a brief fugato section back in 7/8 time, building in energy and launching us into the closing pages of the piece.

As is the case with all living composers, Mr. Stamm's music is very much under copyright so I will not be able to entertain requests to share the score. Please support the work of our modern composers by purchasing their works through your sheet music retailer of choice. I can point you to a couple of online retailers that I've used, or you can contact the composer through his website, eufonia.de

I am using the Chemnitz Sauer for this recording, mostly because I think we need to hear more of it on here ;-) . I feared it might be a little too dark to work well for this piece, but I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the results. My chief complaint is that the lowest register of the Trumpet speaks rather slowly which didn't help my cause much during the brief pedal solos in a couple of places.
