This Siciliano is n°5 out of the six trios op.47.
A critic wrote that these trios were "flowers between two abysses" (the abysses being respectively the B.A.C.H fantasia op. 46 and the set of choral fantasias op.52).

This was the opportunity to use to fine solo stops from II : first the klarinette and second the waldhorn.
