Choral prelude and Choral Op. 19
Gustav Adolf Thomas was born in Reichenau (today Bogatynia) not far from Zittau, but on the other side of the Neisse, in 1842. He attended the Conservatory in Leipzig and from 1864 initially worked as an organist at the Petrikirche in Leipzig. In 1866 he followed a call to St. Petersberg as organist at the Reformed Church there. But he died in 1870 at the age of just 28.
