2:46 My Lady Carey dompe
I uploaded these two pieces a week ago, and was afterwards - too late - quite dissatisfied by how much my playing was hesitating and bad. So, that's a new try after some more work on this music.
Arnold Schlick (1460-1521) was a German composer. He wrote a treatise about organ building and playing, in which he emphasizes the importance of pedal playing. Maria Zart, trio writen, has so a substantial pedal part, most unusual in the music of this pediod.
My Lady Carey dompe : a dompe would mean a lament, although it's not quite sure. IMHO, some pop music by Cat Stevens has some family likeness with this piece, but this is perhaps just a brain twist of mine :-( |
