Description: | Henri Édouard Dallier (20 March 1849 – 21 December 1934) was born in Reims. He studied organ with César Franck at the Conservatoire de Paris and obtained First prize in organ and fugue in 1878. He became "titulaire du grand orgue" of Saint-Eustache in 1879 and in 1905 he succeeded Gabriel Fauré as the organist of la Madeleine. (bio courtesy of Agnus_Dei)
While cruising the Gallica site associated with the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, I came across this manuscript of a piece Dallier never finished - he had billed this as a "first Suite", but only wrote a single movement. While its not perhaps a masterwork, it is pleasant, well-crafted, and an obvious sign of things to come. So, over the course of a week or so, I managed to typeset the score. Copyright persists on all BNF manuscripts, so it's not something I could sell, but I'd be happy to forward the PDF as well as the PDF from Gallica if anyone is interested.
The Nancy C-C does a fine job of making this piece shine. Enjoy! |
