Sounds kind of funny, the title of the chorale. Not at all funny is the biblical background, which points to the dark time of Passion. And the time in which we live is also dark, the future of all of us is uncertain, and how will the events around the theatre of war progress?
Alberto's interpretation of the Telemann chorale prelude a few days ago encouraged me to dare something rhythmically special, and so I underlaid the chorale melody with a galloping staccato, so strong that the respective note is only briefly touched. I find that this creates a lively, perhaps somewhat nervous mood. The sample set Erfurt Büßleben is very well suited for this hustle and bustle; the very clearly perceptible blowing of the pipes comes into its own particularly well here. And since I might want to buy even larger sample sets, I have extended the memory of my notebook to 64 GB. Now even the largest cathedral organ in the world, the Eisenbarth organ in Passau, should fit into my memory - if only there were a sample set for it .....
But now back to serious business - have fun with this more than ordinary chorale arrangement!
