Canadian organist Kola Owolabi (b. 1977) was educated at McGill University, Yale University, and the Eastman School of Music. His teachers included Bruce Wheatcroft, John Grew, Martin Jean, Thomas Murray, Hans Davidsson, and William Porter. From 2006–14 he was on the faculty of Syracuse University and from 2014–20 at the University of Michigan. In 2020, he joined the faculty of the University of Notre Dame where he teaches organ playing, sacred music, hymn playing, and improvisation. Owolabi has also had an active career as a soloist recitalist and has performed concerts throughout North American and Europe. He has released two solo CD recordings on the Raven label. As a composer, he has written various organ and choral works. |
