Derek Remeš (b. 1986) — Fugue in A minor (2013) for organ
American music theorist and organist Derek Remeš (b. 1986) was educated at the Berklee College of Music (BM in Classical Composition and BM in Film Scoring), the Eastman School of Music (MM in Organ; MM in Music Theory; coursework/recitals for DMA in Organ and PhD in Music Theory), and the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg (PhD in Music Theory). In 2019, he was appointed to the music theory and aural skills faculty of the Hochschule Lucerne (Switzerland). Remeš’s dissertation “attempts to reconstruct J. S. Bach’s compositional pedagogy using historical sources.” Beyond J. S. Bach, his research has focused more generally on compositional pedagogy and historical music theory in the 18th century. Remeš has published numerous treatise editions/translations.
