American composer and organist Charles Callahan (1951–2023) published hundreds of compositions for organ and choir that are widely performed throughout the world. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music (the last student of Alexander McCurdy) and the Catholic University of America. He studied with the Belgian organist-composer Flor Peeters. As a recitalist, Callahan was a specialist in romantic music and improvisation. He wrote two reference books on American organ building and was very active as an organ consultant for many major projects.
