The organ at Waldsassen includes a Bombarde Division or Chamadewerk on the top manual of its twin six-manual consoles. In this piece the solo reeds of the division can be heard accompanied by the full forces of the Hauptwerk and Schwellwerk.
Those without a six-manual console can be reassured that the upper divisions can all be coupled to lower manuals.
Willan was an English organist and composer who emigrated to Canada in his thirties, shortly before the first world war. He was sufficiently successful as a church music composer that he was able later to resign his organist's post and live off royalties.
