Jan Janca (b. 1933) Studied organ at the State College of Music in Krakow. Later he also took composition lessons from Johann Nepomuk David, and private organ instruction with Marcel Dupre. He has written quite a number of works for organ, many of which exhibit strong jazz influence (especially his chorale and hymn-based pieces) as well as an affinity for the aesthetic of the French organ "sound". This piece comes from "Jazz Inspirations for Organ vol 2 (Baerenreiter BA 9203), and was one of my prelude pieces for Christmas Eve this year.
