Bougival is a small town in the river Seine's valley roughly 20km west of Paris (it was rather a pretty village when this carillon was composed).
It's not at all a fiery French carillon, but a soft poetic one, rather like an English carillon. IMHO, with its delicate harmonies, it evokes perfectly a misty october morning in the Seine's valley while the village awakes quietly.
Albert Alain (1880-1971) was a French organist, father of Jehan Alain and Marie-Claire Alain, both better known.
