Composer: Vierne, Louis
Sample Producer: Forestpipes Virtual Organs
Sample Set: Regensburg Dom St. Peter
Software: Hauptwerk VIII
Genre: Romantic, Impressionist
Description:
The Légende from 24 Pièces en style libre op.31 is generally ill-loved by organists.

Is it because of its F#major tone and many chromatic alterations, the whole being a bit awkward to read and to assimilate ? Or is it because fingerings are not always immediate to find for legato playing, all that without any brilliant effect ? Or just because of the music ?

However, this Légende sets up immediately a "once upon a time" atmosphere and drives into an enchanted world as can do, for instance, "Ma Mère l'Oye" by Ravel.

IMHO a delicate evocation of childhood and its enchanted dreams. But the player is partial, and always the worst judge...

PS I'm sorry for long time CCH members to whom are inflicted these days several pieces I had already posted five to ten years ago. But it's so good to play again and to polish old beloved pieces instead of always running behind new ones :-) :-)
