Young Tournemire again, with his Pastorale op.24 composed in 1902.
This piece exsudes a spring atmosphere (sorry for Andrew, to whom I wish a beautiful beginning of automn on the other side of the earth :-)). It's -imho - much less conventional and predictable than most of the numerous French Pastorales composed around 1900. One can hear influences of Debussy (whole tone scales here and there...) and young Ravel (harmonies, general atmosphere).
